Smirnoff rewards Sydney promoter with $10,000 grant for the Last Party on Earth
February 2010 - The team at Smirnoff® vodka is excited to announce the details of the first winner of the Smirnoff Promoter Grants scheme. Sydney-based promoter Julian Ramundi has been awarded one of three $10,000 grants to bring his idea for the Last Party on Earth to life. The initiative was overseen by a panel of industry experts: John Wall, Creative Director and co-founder of Fuzzy, Tim Hardaker, General Manager of In the Mix, and Brett Robinson, Tour Director of Future Entertainment. Together these nightlife pioneers handpicked the winners from hundreds of entries, who as part of their prizes gained access to the panel’s invaluable experience and knowledge. Now, these winners will create their own take on an original night, with events taking place in February and March in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. First up, the man behind new event company and label Mischief of the Streets is presenting The Last Party on Earth, an Armageddon-style ‘lights out’ event that will put the Millennium parties of 1999 to shame. The event will take over two levels of The Exchange Hotel (Q Bar, Spectrum and 34B) with a massive lineup featuring The Scare, Illy, The Seabellies, The Tongue, Deep Sea Arcade, Cassian and more – over eight live acts and a tonne of DJ’s creating an end-of-the-world themed micro festival - completely in the dark. The light show is created by the people - personal light source is a must for entry! Event details: The Last Party on Earth Sunday 28 February Doors open 6pm The Exchange Hotel (44 Oxford St Darlinghurst) Tickets $20 presale or $25 at the door Presale tickets $20 + BF at http://www.moshtix.com.au The Smirnoff Promoter Grants scheme is part of a global campaign called Be THERE that will enable experiences that subvert the ordinary and inspire people to say “I was there” or “I wish I’d been there”. |
