Munky recently had the opportunity to catch up with Hadi J and Ignacio, the team behind Swerve Productions and this year's COURTYARD PARTY - Easter long weekend.
We found out how they got to the popular party brand they are today and what inspires them for their upcoming event.
THIS is their story.

Q1) So Courtyard is back for its second year running! Thats pretty exciting, what are you looking most forward to this year?

Hadi J:. Personally im excited to hear the Juggernauts dj set as i have always been a fan of what they do through their music and that will definitely be a highlight for me . In saying that the boys from Trumpdisco , Light Year , Glove Cats & Starfuckers also know how to put on a great show so i will definitely be sneaking away from time to time to have a cheeky drink and dance with the crew! The fact that its also Anzac day and we have no work the next day will ensure that some wild times will be had on the day. Not to mention the Ivy make the most amazing passionfruit Mojitos which i became quiet close to at last years Courtyard party !
Ignacio:
Seeing everybody who came to the last one return, seeing everyone who missed it experience it for the first time. A drink or two with all our djs and team who help make it all happen

Q2) What were the main lessons you learnt from last years bash that youll be bringing us again this year?

Hadi J: That when you have the balance of an amazing venue , excellent production and a solid dj line up you are on the right track to having a memorable and successful event ! So this year we have decided to add a few more extras including a few more headliners , beef up our production and sound , get one of Australias best VJs ( Morph ) to add some amazing touches to the event and we managed to secure two public holidays in a row so people can party to the early hours of the morning and not have to worry about work.

Q3) Last Courtyard in December was a ripper, and Courtyard 2 looks to be even bigger what can the crowd expect out of this years event?

Hadi J & Ignacio: After the massive success for our first courtyard event we wanted to expand our line up & provide a vast range of music genres to make sure the event accessible to a wider group. So the Crowd can expect a huge production and sound set up , an unrivalled electric atmosphere , Drink Specials & some of the loosest party people in Sydney covering everything from Dubstep , Electro , Progressive , disco and much more .

Q4) Where did the idea for Courtyard come from?

Ignacio:
The Idea came from seeing a lack of uniqueness being offered to the younger clubbing demographic out there. Those cooler kids between the ages of 18 and 24 do not get a chance to experience Sydneys partying to its full potential. IVY is somewhat Known for the more older or fancy crowd. - We decided those in the younger demographic, who essentially drive our industry deserved a chance to experience a ibiza like experience while seeing acts they usually dont get to. (like Miami Horror or Midnight Juggernauts dj set)
Be it chilling in the courtyard zipping a corona and dancing to disco at 5pm, or banging to some electro later on the night. The idea is that Courtyard will have everyone covered.

Q5) Does Courtyard have a mission statement?

HJ: not exactly though you can refer to it as the perfect balance of music, culture & innovation all brought together for a special journey to be experienced by all

Q6) Tell us a bit about the team behind Courtyard

Hadi J: Ignacio and I joined forces a few years ago to launch our company Swerve Productions. It has been an amazing journey that has allowed us to put on and collaborate parties with some of Australias leading brands . Some of our events have included the likes of Afrojack , Hardwell , Wolfgang Gartner , Steve Lawler , Tomcraft , lützenkirchen, Sebastien Leger & Laidback Luke to name a few. We are always looking for the next evolution in partying and concepts . We continuously receive feedback about how lack lustre ,boring and repetitive the Sydney scene is becoming and that proves to be our key motivator in ensuring we give Sydney something Fresh & Exciting. In Saying that the support we receive from Djs & team of Promoters across the board has also ensured that we continue to grow & deliver quality events.

Q7) What kind of crowd should we expect to find at Courtyard

Hadi J: Hot , sexy & wild party people with no attitude, who really know how to party hard ! I was blown away by the vibe at the last Courtyard party with the majority of the headline djs playing at the event labelling it as one of their favourite club gigs and crowds of 2010. I guess that really says something about the people who come and play at Courtyard. Not to mention the very next day we were getting bombarded with messages and calls about the date for the next one !!

Q8) What are your plans for Courtyard in the future?
Ignacio: Courtyard is something that we know those who attend will become fond of, as it was the case with last years event. Were already planning the 2011/2012 Start of Summer Courtyard, once again at ivy. Were looking at growing the quality of acts featured, with a couple of Huge internationals on the cards.

Q9) Anything else you want the people to know before heading down to Courtyard this Anzac Day?
Hadi J & Ignacio: be prepared for 10+ hours of partying , it is festival attire so make sure your comfortable and if your crew dont know about it yet then you need to be making sure they dont miss out on this Party & dont worry about having a big day/night as the next day IS a public holiday ! For all those who love playing Two-Up on Anzac day rest assured we will have a Two Up area set up to make sure you keep up with your tradition J
Q10) What do you guys think about the idea of us bringing some REALY monkeys along to the party? Do you think wed get them past security?

Ignacio:
Haha, We will make sure of it! there is no point to an amazing event if there are no munkys to capture it!
