Cadell
About me
After 15 illustrious years in the business - DJ, ARIA contributor, promoter and local hero Cadell continues to impress and sustain his reputation as one of Sydney’s most versatile & well-respected DJ’s.
An original member of Sydney’s famous SOUNDS ON SUNDAY, Cadell has played his unique style of infectious house music regularly, all across Sydney, with current residencies including:
Trademark/Piano Room, Greenwood Hotel, Argyle Hotel, & The Ivy, Roxy hotel and Northies. Cadell has also had the opportunity to DJ at the original “Mobile Home NYE”, Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, Twilight Sounds, Pacha NYE and PACHA winter parties, Freedom Festival, Summerfest and many more over the years.
Being recognised as one of Australia’s favourite DJ’s has allowed for international success for Cadell, who is regularly booked to play in Ibiza, Mykonos, Croatia & throughout Asia.
Local success has also given Cadell the opportunity to play alongside countless high profile international DJ’s, being hand-picked to support Roger “S-Man” Sanchez in 2001 was an incredible achievement for the talented young Cadell, who now boasts supporting duties for what is arguably the A list of DJ talent with the likes of Bob Sinclar, Erick Morillo, Basement
Jaxx, Axwell, Kenny Dope, Bodyrockers, Darren Emerson, Sash, Stonebridge, Andy Ward, Eddie Thoneick, Smokin Jo, Naughty by Nature, Busta Rhymes, Adam Freeland & David Vendetta. The list goes on and on.
There will be no slowing down for Cadell this summer and further into 2010, a year in which Cadell plans to consolidate his position as Sydney’s favourite DJ.
In less than 30 words, how would you describe your music?
I think my music encompasses all that is house with sprinklings of electro, tribal, and a touch techy to boot.
Who are your musical idols and inspirations?
I’d have to say Erick Morillo for not only his awesome sets but his business savvy as well. Not many djs have done what he has and stayed at the top of the game for as long without compromise.
Favourite club to do a set and why?
I don’t really have a fave as each set, week and club can be so different. I do love playing outside at Greenwood. Nothing beats a Sydney summers day in the courtyard. I guess any where that is up for the party.
Favourite gig you've played to date?
Ibiza and Mykonos are stand outs but then again being on at Big Day Out and Good Vibes the last 2 years has been awesome as well..
We plan to break into your car - what can we expect to find in your CD player?
Haha, right now would be an AC/DC cd we had for inspiration on the way to the concert.
Your fool proof hangover cure?
Maccas.. Don’t know how fool proof it is but it’s right next door to my house and thus minimal effort, phew!
Is getting laid a big part of being a DJ?
Djs do it for different reasons. Each to there own I say but for me if that’s what it was about I wouldn’t have been djing for 16 years and still at the top of my game.
One record you're embarrassed to admit you own?
None… I do have a copy of Neil Diamond Hot August Night tho.. why? No idea. Weird!
The weirdest thing a fan has ever done?
Stalker!!!! That was pretty weird for a year or so..
One thing you're willing to confess to your fellow Munkys?
I watch Gossip Girl.. ok….i said it…happy munky!
