About me

With over 20 years experience as a DJ, Nik Fish is regarded as an iconic figure in the electronic dance music scene for pioneering and bringing hard dance music to the masses in Australia since the early 90's.
Nik currently plays all around Australia at clubs, raves and festivals including Q-dance events, Defqon.1 (Australia), Bass Control, Prophecy, Creamfields and Godskitchen as well as internationally having played throughout Asia and Europe at Defqon.1 in Holland and the Berlin Loveparade in Germany.
Nik also presents HARDRIVE, a monthly radio show featuring new releases in music of the harder styles. Broadcasting live on FM and online radio stations across Australia and New Zealand since 2009 and also available as a podcast trough iTunes.

In less than 30 words, how would you describe your music?

I play music of the harder styles, mainly hardstyle, but also hard trance and if I can get away with it I’ll throw other genres into the mix like Drum n Bass!

Who are your musical idols and inspirations?

I’m just a DJ so I get excited by a lot of other producers and draw inspiration from all different genres in dance music, movie scores and beyond.

Favourite club to do a set and why?

Playing main stage at Defqon.1 last year to thousands of people, as it was a huge stage, enormous sound system and I got to play my own tracks plus other local artists music!

Favourite gig you've played to date?

I played at the very last Loveparade street party in Berlin in 2006 atop a moving float with people as far as the eye could see in every direction!

Your fool proof hangover cure?

Bury your head under the pillow and just sleep it off for as long as possible.

Is getting laid a big part of being a DJ?

What the… are you serious? – maybe for some - haha!

One record you're embarrassed to admit you own?

Abba’s greatest hits – On one hand it’s embarrassing, on the other they were really good!

The weirdest thing a fan has ever done?

Walked up to the DJ booth and tried to order a drink from me while I was playing.

One thing you're willing to confess to your fellow Munkys?

I tuck my jeans into my socks when nobody’s around.
