About me

On the over populated electronic music stage, Helena has emerged at the
forefront to hit the wheels of steel. A temptress in big rooms, Helena
is Australia’s very own Queen of Clubs, with a signature sound of
uplifting melodies and rolling basslines. Her onstage energy is immense,
extracting all the best of house, electro, prog, tribal & tech,
Helena commands the dancefloor like no other.

UK born and Australian bred, Helena was always destined to pursue a
musical path. Her background in classical piano and cello set the tone
for a powerful musical base at an early age, along with her impressive
heritage of working in the UK music industry proved to be a deadly
combination when apair of Technics turntables served as her ultimate
musical instrument, launching Helena into a successful reign of the
stage, showcasing her natural raw talent across dancefloors and
airwaves.

In less than 30 words, how would you describe your music?

house; rolling baselines with uplifting toplines, with a tribal twist. I cross house with tech electro and progressive. I play tracks that get me regardless of genre if i'm not moved in some way by a track it doesn't get played.

Who are your musical idols and inspirations?

Inspirations to me would be the producers who make the music that drive my passion these days; Wolfgang Garner, John Dahlback, Mark knight, Thomas Gold, Nicky Romero, SHM, Steve Angello, Eric Prydz, Calvin Harris, Fedde le Grand, chris lake, among others.

Favourite club to do a set and why?

IVY is amazing such a beautiful club it's as close to an Ibiza style club as you'll get in Australia, kind of reminds me of Es Paradis, in Ibiza but with less sexy men.

Favourite gig you've played to date?

Sensation white was unreal and i love the Bondi Sunburnt Christmas parties they are just so much fun, 5000 nutters in Christmas hats partying in the sun on Bondi Beach, just awesome.

We plan to break into your car - what can we expect to find in your CD player?

CD's are sooooo 2010 plus i don't have a car, so good luck with that.

Your fool proof hangover cure?

Bloody Mary's never fail, just keep drinking it's the best hangover cure.

Is getting laid a big part of being a DJ?

Ofcourse that is why i became a DJ to get laid.

One record you're embarrassed to admit you own?

My first record i owned was when i was about 6 and it was 'The Birdie Song' I still play it now and love shuffling round my living room to it.

The weirdest thing a fan has ever done?

A guy stalked me from the airplane where he was sat next to me on the flight, saying it was fate that we should meet like this and came straight to my gig in the city that night and stood staring at me right in front of the DJ box my whole set. He then came in the dj box and i launched him out sending him flying.

One thing you're willing to confess to your fellow Munkys?

I always wear odd socks and i like it.
