About me

The King of Brooklyn dance music - Tommie Sunshine is returning to Australian shores this July. With such an impressive resume of previous Australian tours and shows, the question beckons... How does Tommie out-do what he has done previously?
We have one answer for that.... Fake Club - a club tailor made for an artist like Tommie.

FakeCLUB inteview's Tommie sunshine:
Fake Club;     Tommie, you have some fantastic tours down here and some memorable shows, can you share with us some funny things that have happened whilst down under in Australia?

Tommie Sunshine; I have made some amazing friends and musical collaborators in Australia. basically every moment I spend with Acid Jacks is hilarious and just wait until the musical project we have in store for you.
Fake Club;     Music is evolving at a rapid pace at the moment, is it challenging playing to audiences in different countries?
TS;  I would say no because the internet has made all countries one. I have said for years that Australia has the best scene for this music and I stand by that.

Fake Club;    Do you feel your sound has evolved or changed in the last couple of years

TS;  I feel like my sounds has both evolved and changed since last week. I don't understand artists who do not roll with the changes in a world so fast moving as ours. I find it exciting to constantly be searching for the next shift in style and sound. That will never change for me.

Fake Club;    You are renowned for being "prolific" in your production, knocking out originals and remixes at the speed of light. How do you manage this?
TS;  I love what I do and I am always honest about it. Honesty sets you free and you become a better person and a much better artist.

Fake Club;     What are expecting from your tour in Australia this time?
TS;  I am excited to share all the new music I have made and make a lot more with the artists you guys have there. I am looking to get up with (as I said) Acid Jacks, Wax Motif, Will Reckless & Rob Pix are all guys I hope to make music with while I am there.

Fake Club;     What are your favourite clubs in the world to play at?
TS;  honestly, any club where the sounds system was put together with love and is truly about music is the place for me. gigs are such fleeting moments that I try to only look forward to the calendar and never romanticize the stamps on my passport.

Fake Club;     They say what happens on tour stays on tour, but you have played with and rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in dance music. Are there any funny stories that spring to mind that you could share with us about other artists?
TS;  well, think in order to be a good artist you have to be upfront about about all your dealings in your life. I find that if you want to really know any artist sit and take a read of their Twitter; even what they don't say speaks volumes about who they are and their real intentions in the music business. that being said, there are funny stories every weekend. I'll leave the funny stories about everyone for their interview, not mine!
Fake Club;    Times have changed a little bit since your last gig in Sydney, you are playing at a club which was opened in March but has already had some fantastic shows with some fantastic artists. Proxy recently played and was blown away. You will be playing in front of a huge LED wall to a crowd going absolutely mental. Crowd surfing is pretty common. Are you down to crowd surf mid set?
TS;  I'll leave that to Aoki. However, I look forward to seeing people losing their shit to my music.

Fake Club;    Your currently living in Brooklyn, tell us what the music scene is like in New York at the moment?

TS;  New York is a myth. America's scene at the moment is on the West Coast. I hope to see this turn back around and have cutting edge music back where it belongs, in NYC.

Fake Club; Which clubs do you play at regularly
TS;  I am a resident at Pacha NYC.

Fake Club; Take us through a day in the life of Tommie Sunshine

TS;  I am just a man who is deeply in love with his woman and dedicates most of his day to pushing his artistic body of work forward. It should also be noted that I do not smoke, drink, do drugs or consume caffeine so the energy I have comes from the creative fire inside me.

Fake Club;    Who are some up and coming artists you are impressed with, that we should keep an eye out for?
TS;  Fuser, Tai, Dillon Francis, Dan Aux, Mumbai Science, Midnight Magic, Dances With White Girls, Tiger And Woods, Modek, RipTidE, Todally, Krossed Out, Soul Clap, Gesaffelstein, Fat & Ugly, Gregori Klosman, Zedd, TWR72, The Magician, Mahesa Utara, Jessica 6, Elektropusher, Sidney Samson, Nom de Strip, The Disco Fries, Codes, Gianni Marino & Jon Giovanni.

Fake Club; Thanks for talking to Fake Club, we are looking forward to having you on July 23rd.
TS;  I am excited to play there!
