Barresto
About me
When it comes to the fastest rising stars on the electro scene, it’s hard to resist the Barretso chill. This technically proven Chilean has been hard at work over recent months teasing and tickling us with his fantastic remix skill, having proved himself on re-rubs for the likes of Justice, Monomen and Astro. Along with the rest of the world, we’re yet to find out much more about this crafty Chilean, but sometimes mystery makes things all that much hotter. It sure worked on the team at TUFFEM UP Records, as they snapped him up without too much adieu and have had a taste of his first original material. He’s busily locked away in his super-secret underground bunker (think 007 type vibes), where he’s toiling away on material for his debut EP, which will be out on TUFF EM UP in February 2010, followed by his maiden journey to blow clubs across Oz into the outer galaxy.
In less than 30 words, how would you describe your music?
I would say my music is Fast paced electrified Synthesized with my added pop disco vocals
Who are your musical idols and inspirations?
its great to be able to hear and grab inspiration from Giogio moroder, Sebastian tellier, who both are exceptional in being leaders of Chilled Disco, able to listen for ideas and influences from them and implementing into my own Barretso fast paced basslines is proving to be successful.
Favourite club to do a set and why?
Would Have to be Oxford Art Factory, Every Picture I have seen has been of somebody crowd surfing. That’s wild.
Favourite gig you've played to date?
Chile has built a great community for great parties "Slap that Bitch" series of parties has really taken off, where i have been there from the start, Chile is not so big with electro or disco, but with these series of parties its definitely opened up a new community of people who are starting to support the music.
Your fool proof hangover cure?
Cigarette in one hand, coffee in the other. . . and can never forget those sunglasses to hide my terrible hang over eyes.
Is getting laid a big part of being a DJ?
One of the perks of course, but with travelling so much, prioritizing is a lesson I learnt from past experiences, hehe.
One record you're embarrassed to admit you own?
Theres a few, most of them are by old timer Stevie B, I have a bit of an addiction.
The weirdest thing a fan has ever done?
Probably asked me for my underwear, he tried to tell me in the most intellectual way that underwear is the only part of a DJ that is true after a set, something to do with sweat, he didn’t think it was creepy at all, but I never played there again.
One thing you're willing to confess to your fellow Munkys?
I only confess to the priest.
