When you're just six years into
your DJing career and you've already completed a chart-killing mix CD for Australia's no.1 dance club Onelove and a string of international tour dates, then the writing is undeniably on the wall. Ditto when your DJ schedule is bulging at the hips, and you rarely spend one weekend in
the same state, or get a moment of quiet solitude without your phone ringing to offer you another opportunity to flash your razor-sharp skills behind the dex.
Minx's (aka Rachel Phillips) musical addiction may have started innocently enough, but when you possess that very rare talent to make a dance record connect perfectly with a dancefloor time after time, there's little holding you back from becoming one of the hottest rising stars of the Australian club scene. 
 
Today, few could challenge her status as one of the country's most exciting DJing talents. Relocating to Sydney at the start of '09 thanks to the harbor city's heavy demand for her dancefloor moving abilities, Minx made her debut on the compilation market mixing a disc of Onelove's Sound Machine release alongside local
DJ luminary Ajax and white-hot Dutch talent Bart B More. Over 18 blazin' cuts, Minx genre-hopped between big room electro house, techno, progressive and indie dance, proving a musical versatility and maturity belying her four years experience as a professional DJ. 
Which leaves one questions
unanswered; does the white-hot spinner live up to her provocative
handle? We're just going to have to let you discover that one for
yourself. But one thing's for sure, when she gets a hold on you, you can bet your sweat arse she's going to make you move.

In less than 30 words, how would you describe your music?

House, electro & tech are what I play. I like to keep it bouncy you might say!

Who are your musical idols and inspirations?

As a kid I loved & listened to Dire Straits, The Doors, Blondie etc, although I still love those bands, my love is obviously dance music. I love what’s coming out of Oz. Dirty South, Hook N Sling, TV Rock, Bass Kleph, Feenixpawl, Denzal Park etc & then what’s happening OS like the Swedish House Mafia, Kid Massive, Eric Prydz, AVICII, Wippenberg, Dimitri Vegas etc

Favourite club to do a set and why?

I’m loving playing at Pure Ivy on Saturday nights. House music baby! : )

Favourite gig you've played to date?

This is tough. 360 bar in Dubai is a great venue to play. I also love playing Stereosonic. Such a great festival! My set there after Paul Van Dyke 2 yrs ago was so much fun!

We plan to break into your car - what can we expect to find in your CD player?

When I buy a car, you can ask me again then.

Haven’t found one yet. If you do, please pass it on!

Is getting laid a big part of being a DJ?

Apparently, but I’m partnered up & have been my whole career, so I’m not the best person to ask.

One record you're embarrassed to admit you own?

Hmmm, that’s tough. Pretty sure I’ve ditched what I actually don’t like. Sorry, I’m no fun : )

The weirdest thing a fan has ever done?

Not sure I’d call him a fan, but climbing on stage, stripping & dancing till he was removed from the building was quite entertaining.
